It took Northwest Rankin only two minutes and four seconds to get on the board first. Kurterrius Taylor breaks one for 34 yards to make it 7-0. The cougars would recover a Pearl fumble and Taylore would score again, just 17 seconds later to make it 14-0.
Pearl's AK Travis would cut the lead to 14-7 when he turned the corner from about 11 yards out with 5:36 left in the half. A big return on the ensuing kickoff would setup a two yard score by Ramone Nash to make it 21-7. Cougars would go on to win 27-21 and improve to 3-0 on the year.
