Four Southern Miss baseball players were named All-Conference USA first team and one freshman earned a spot on the C-USA All-Freshman team as announced by the league office today.
Infielder B.A. Vollmuth along pitchers Collin Cargill, Scott Copeland and Todd McInnis all garnered first team All-C-USA honors while freshman Dillon Day was named to the C-USA All-Freshman team.
Four players on the All-C-USA first team is the most of any C-USA team this season and ties the 2004 team for the most first team selection in any year for the Southern Miss program. This is also the eighth consecutive year that at least one player has earned first team all C-USA honors for the Golden Eagles.
For Vollmuth, Copeland and Cargill it is their first All-C-USA selection while McInnis earns hit third C-USA honor after earning first team All-C-USA first team in 2009 and all-freshman team in 2008. He was also the C-USA Pitcher of the Year last season.
The Golden Eagles return to action on Wednesday as they open play in their 28th consecutive conference tournament with Memphis at 11:00 a.m. here in Houston.
