The Jackson State University Athletics Department, in conjunction with the JSU Tiger Fund, will hold its first annual “Tiger Fest” weekend April 24-25.
Weekend festivities will start with a SWAC baseball doubleheader between the Tigers and the Mississippi Valley State Delta Devils at the JSU baseball field Friday, April 24 at 3 pm.
Also, on Friday Tiger football coaches will hold a meet and greet with local high school football coaches from 4:30 pm - 7:30 pm at the JSU College of Business.
Saturday's activities will kick-off with JSU Legends flag football game from 10:30 am - noon at Newell Field. The Legends game will feature former JSU gridiron greats participating for the navy or the white teams.
The JSU spring game will follow the Legends game from 12:30 - 2 pm at Newell Field. The "Blue and White" game will give JSU fans a first glimpse at the 2009 team.
The highlight of the weekend activities will be the official naming ceremony of the Robert "Bob" Braddy Baseball Field at 4:30 pm.
Rounding out the activities will be the final game of the JSU-Mississippi Valley State baseball series. First pitch is set for 5 pm. Tiger fans are also encouraged to bring their grills and enjoy the new tailgate area near the baseball-softball complex.
Admission for the football legends and spring game is $5. Baseball game prices are $5 for adults and $3 for children 12 years and under. Coaches interested in attending the football meet and greet can call 601-979-2295 for more information.
