Bassfield trailed Ackerman13-7 in the third quarter of the MHSAA Class 2A championship, but a short yardage Josh Johnson touchdown run gave the Yellowjackets the lead. It was a lead Bassfield would not give up. Late in the thrid quarter, quarterback Carvey Magee rolled to his left and found a wode open Jeremy Johnson for another Yellowjackets score. Bassfield would go on to win the Class 2 championship game 27-13.
