The unofficial list of names for qualifying candidates who want to fill a vacant Jackson City Council seat are released. They are in alphabetical order: Benta Burt, Gwendolyn Ward Osborne-Chapman, Joyce Jackson, Harrison Michael II, Sameerah Muhammad, Darla Palmer, Larita Cooper-Stokes, Rev. John Taylor Jr., Patricia Williams, Zachary Williams and Albert Wilson. The special election to fill the position is Tuesday, February 14th. Former Council man Kenneth Stokes was recently sworn in as a Hinds County Supervisor for District 5.
