Yazoo Co. Couple Charged in Baby's Death

»  Comments | Post a Comment

Yazoo City- A mother and boyfriend have been charged with child abuse.

Courtney Ann Jones, 21, and Billy Williams, 21, are charged with two counts each. They are now in a Yazoo County jail on a $100,000 bond each.

Authorities say the couple called police last Thursday after Jones' toddler son, Hunter, was found unresponsive. Investigators say they found the toddler covered in bruises, and he had at least one adult bite mark. However, Coroner Ricky Shivers does not believe the injuries actually caused the death. He says an autopsy report came back inconclusive but more tests will be performed.

Chief Investigator Tommy Irvine says the couple lived together in a home on Old Highway 3. It is the same home where Hunter lived and his body was found.

Irvine says it appears Hunter had healing wounds, suggesting the couple may have abused him many times. He says the couple has an extensive history with the Department of Human Services. Investigators also say that a 2 year old girl was also removed from the home.

Irvine says the baby's father did not live at the home and doesn't believe he was involved. The case will now go to a grand jury.
