There’s a new sheriff in town in Yazoo County...
Sheriff Jacob "Jake" sheriff was sworn in this morning at the Yazoo County Courthouse
Sheriff beat out incumbent Thomas Vaughn for the seat.
“To be sworn in this position is a wonderful feeling. I just trust in the public and the public trusts in me that I'll do a good job" says Sheriff
Sheriff Sheriff brings a new crew to the county. Only 3 deputies are returning from the last administration. 8 are brand new. He says the new faces will push his agenda.
“Control a lot of the drug traffic and establish a drug task force with a local agencies and try to keep that to a minimum"
This is the first time he's in the big chair. He says his wife supports him and so do the people.
" I been overwhelmed welcomed with the general public. They received me well and I think God for that. My goal now is to do a good job and be a servant to the public"
The sheriff spent 30 years as master sergeant for the Mississippi Highway Patrol.
