Deadly Police Chase Kills Rankin County Woman

»  Comments | Post a Comment

A woman is dead this morning after authorities say a convicted felon leads law enforcement officers on a chase through two counties.

It began Sunday morning in Ridgeland where police say Robert Williams shoplifted from a business.

When officers tried to arrest him and his passenger, Melinda Rutherford, Williams tried to hit an officer with his car.

He then sped off and led Ridgeland police on a chase across the Spillway and into Rankin County.

When they got to Grants Ferry and Lakeland Drive in Flowood, Williams crashed into Milinda Clark, 31.

Clark was taken to UMC where she was pronounced dead.

Williams and Rutherford were also taken to UMC.

When he's released from the hospital, Williams will face a number of charges, including fleeing that resulted in death and aggravated assault.

Rutherford will be taken to Ridgeland to face charges.
