Vicksburg- City leaders remain quiet on a sexual harassment lawsuit.
The former Chief of Staff, Kenya Burks, filed a sexual harassment lawsuit against the ctiy. In her complaint, she admits she had a sexual relationship with Mayor Paul Winfield. But when she called off the relationship, she says Winfield became physically abusive and continued unwanted sexual advances to her. She also says he offered to pay her overtime, in order to keep the relationship going. Burks says she still called off the relationship and that's when she was fired last April.
Mayor Winfield denies all accusations, saying the two only had a professional relationship.
Burks' attorney, Nick Norris, says his client has text messages to prove that a relationship was going on. He also said that Burks' former landlord has surveillance video of Mayor Winfield coming and going from Burks' apartment often. The landlord says he does have a surveillance video system, but hasn't looked to see if it shows the Mayor and Burks. He says Norris and his client are only assuming what's on the tapes. The landlord says he really doesn't want to get involved and will be in touch with his lawyer before making any decisions.
The city attorney, Lee Thames, says even though this is a sexual harassment lawsuit, this is strictly a civil matter. He says there are no criminal charges pending against the Mayor.
