A former music minister accused of molesting boys has been arrested.
Authorities in two metro cities are pursuing charges against him for the abuse they say happened more than 30 years ago.
49-year old John Langworthy faces seven counts of gratification of lust.
Five stem from crimes in Jackson and two are in Clinton
In all, there are five victims in the case. Authorities say the crimes happened in the early 1980s when the victims were between the ages of 8 and 12.
Each charge carries with a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison if he's convicted.
In August, Langworthy told members of his congregation at Morrison heights Baptist Church in Clinton he had committed sexual indiscretions with boys in Mississippi and Texas.
The sex crimes Langworthy is accused of began while he was a student at Mississippi College in Clinton. Authorities say while attending the Christian school, Langworthy volunteered at First Baptist Church in downtown Jackson and Daniel Memorial Baptist on Terry Road.
According to prosecutors, he befriended families at both churches, often spending holidays with them and babysitting the boys he's now accused of molesting. Investigators say Langworthy sexually abused 2 boys in a dorm room on the Mississippi College campus.
Because of the access he had to some many children over the years, prosecutors say there’s a possibility other victims may still be out there.
