Due to an accident involving a tractor trailer that occurred late Monday afternoon, the left lane of I-20 westbound, near Exit 1A, will remain closed until further notice. The large metal beam that occupies the right shoulder under the bridge will be removed within the next few days. There will be possible closures of the right westbound lane of I-20 during the removal process.
MDOT has issued a wide load restriction for vehicles over 12 feet wide that will remain in effect until further notice. Trucks with wide load permits heading west on I-20 will be notified at the Bovina scale of the restriction and should have their routing permits modified accordingly.
MDOT will update the public on this closure as information becomes available.
MDOT encourages motorists to use caution when traveling through the affected area.
