»  Comments | Post a Comment

When the doors reopened Wednesday afternoon at DiamondJacks casino, customers got a big welcome back from employees at the front at they walked in for the first time in more than a month.

For 36 days slot machines were silent and the blackjack tables were empty, costing the Vicksburg casino, city and state lots of money

“Everyday that we're closed we lose millions of dollars so 36 days millions of dollars," said Felicia Gavin, DiamondJacks General Manager.

Even though the casino was losing millions, the gaming house paid its employees salaries and benefits.

"That was money that was out of our profits. We were not making any money," said Gavin.

Longtime patrons were ready once again to start betting on the game of chance.

DiamondJacks is offering promotional deals, including two-for-one buffet specials and other events.
