Canton- Sheriff-elect Randy Tucker will officially start New Year's Day.
He along with 25 other county officials were sworn in this morning at the Madison County Circuit Courthouse. Tucker, 42, says he has spent nearly 20 years working in law enforcement. He joined the Madison County Sheriff's Office in 2000 as part of the department's narcotics unit.
He is replacing current Sheriff Toby Trowbridge. Trowbridge has served three terms in office and was first elected sheriff in 2000.
Tucker says he wants to see the department grow as the county grows. He doesn't want it to cost taxpayers anymore money, but he says in some instances, he may not have a choice. Tucker says his years of working in narcotics will definitely play a role. He says will be aggressively fight the war on drugs.
Tucker is married and has two sons.
