Three years ago, Yakini Williams was tragically murdered in Jackson. Her daughter, Zaviara, was nine months old at the time.
Christmas Eve, friends treated Zaviara to a Christmas celebration.
Demetris Edwards and Zaviara's mom were best friends in high school. Demetris got in touch with her classmates and asked them to give what they could to this sweet little girl.
"It always stuck in my mind because we were the same age," says Demetris. "We went to school together, so I always thought about her daughter, and I thought about her and who she was to me, so since I was coming home for Christmas, I definitely wanted to do something for her daughter, just as a memory and support. Just something for her."
15 friends from high school had RSVPd and said they'd bring gifts. Christmas Eve was certainly a little brighter for Zaviara.
