Convicted Sex Offender Served Time Before in MDOC

»  Comments | Post a Comment

Authorities say Timonthy Vanstean was convicted of burglary of an occupied dwelling in Rankin County in 1989. He served four years in the Mississippi Department of Corrections. This was after he was convicted or raping a child in Vermont in the late 1980s.

Hinds County authorities say Vermont never put out a national search for him, which is why Vanstean was released after he served time in the MDOC. He was recently pulled over at a safety checkpoint last week. Authorities released him but later learned of the Vermont warrant, and went back to his home to look for him. His family took deputies to his cousin's house.

Hinds County authorities are talking with Vermont authorities about the extradition process.
