Authorities in Hinds County are trying to locate tens of thousands of dollars worth of equipment.
Officials say the equipment may have been stolen or employees have lost or misplaced it.
More than $60,000 was reported missing after a 2009 inventory audit of county equipment.
Among the items are chainsaws, printers, pagers, a refrigerator and even a handgun.
Supervisor’s president Robert Graham says authorities are also investigating who stole a 1993 Chevy pick up truck from an employee’s driveway six months ago.
Graham says supervisors have now launched an investigation into what happened. He says they plan to implement new policies to make sure employees do a better job of keeping up with equipment in the future.
