Diabetes is a growing epidemic and is taking a devastating physical, emotional and financial toll on our state. 1 in 3 American children born today face a future with diabetes if current trends continue. That number is closer to 1 in 2 for African Americans and Latinos.
Yet diabetes is often misunderstood and underestimated by our elected officials. You can help bring the message about the seriousness of diabetes to the state legislature.
We will also have a health health fair at the Capitol, with the Community Outreach for Health Awareness (COHA), JDRF, Askmed Inc, the Mississippi Kindey Foundation, the American Heart Association, Heathcare Management Solutions (HMS) and the American Diabetes Association.
