An assistant coach at a private school
in Warren County is accused of robbing a bank and leading police on
a chase before wrecking his vehicle.
Authorities say Derrick Collins is charged with felony eluding
and armed robbery. The Vicksburg Post reports Collins has been a
part-time football and basketball coach at Porters Chapel Academy.
School headmaster Doug Branning says in a statement that Collins
was well-respected by students, parents and faculty.
Sheriff Martin Pace tells the newspaper Collins allegedly tried
to rob Britton & Koontz Bank off U.S. 61 North on Tuesday. Pace
says Collins allegedly threatened a teller with violence as he
demanded money.
Jail officials said they didn't know the name of Collins'
attorney.
