Yazoo County had another problem to deal with today. Part of Highway 3 was forced to close today when a log truck collided with a train.
It happened at an intersection around 5:00 this morning just north of Yazoo city. Authorities say an 18-wheeler truck carrying logs hit the Canadian National train turning over six train cars. Then, on the other side of the tracks, a Ford F-150 pickup skidded into the wreck. There were no serious injuries. Both drivers involved were taken to the hospital and released.
The intersection does not have flashing lights or a crossing arm, but it does have signs, which we're told is the minimum requirement. And, traffic was re-routed.
Investigators say speed may have been a factor.
