Ridgeland city officials slapped an apartment complex there with nearly 1600 violations and ordered the owners to fix the problems or else.
One city alderman tells us city leaders don't want to condemn the apartment complex. They just want the owners to do the right thing.
The Ridgeland Board of Alderman is giving the property owner of "Baymeadows Apartments" 60 days to fix the problems, which range from peeling paint and rotted wood--to sewage and water leaks.
Some of the most dangerous violations are exposed wiring, black mold and broken glass.
Code enforcement officers spotted the violations during an inspection in May.
The complex is on Pine Knoll Drive in Ridgeland off Old Canton Road.
Tiffany, who didn't want to give us her last name, tells us she's lived at the complex for about eight months. She's tired of living with constant problems.
"Sometimes my lights are dim and sometimes they're not," said Tiffany.
She says she's having a hard time getting maintenance to fix her breaker box.
"That's the only thing I'm concerned about because it does spark from time to time," said Tiffany.
We tried to call management for comment about the code violations, but couldn't reach anyone.
Tiffany's lease is up in January. She says she's had enough.
"I'm leaving because there's too many problems going on out here, and I want to move somewhere better," said Tiffany.
This isn't the first time the complex has gotten code violations. In 2006, they received 73.
