Friday morning, three others were arrested in connection with the murder of white supremacist Richard Barrett. Thursday police arrested 22 year-old Vincent McGee. He is ex-convict recently released from state prison. McGee lived near Barrett and did work for him.
Friday police arrested Michael and Vickie Dent and charged him with accessory after murder. Investigators believe the Dents picked up McGee at Barrett's house following the murder. Police tell News Channel 12 they believe McGee murdered Barrett Wednesday night.
Police also arrested McGee’s stepfather, Alfred Lewis and charged him with accessory after arson. Police believe McGee returned to Barrett’s home on Thursday morning and tried to cover up the murder by torching the body on fire. Police say Lewis picked McGee up at Barrett’s home following the fire.
A preliminary autopsy shows Barrett was stabbed to death. The autopsy shows Barrett was dead before the fire started.
Rankin County District Attorney Michael Guest tells News Channel 12 that he does not believe this is not a hate crime at this time but it’s too early to say for sure. Guest added that the court day is up-in-the-air right now and it could be moved to Tuesday.
