Vote On $61 Million Madison County School Bond Issue

»  Comments | Post a Comment

It was a big day for Madison County schools. Residents had until 7:00 pm to vote on a multi million dollar school bond. Every school in the district is set to see some kind of improvement if the $61 million bond issue passes. The school board needs to get at least 60% of the vote for it to pass. The money would be used to build a new school and make improvements at other schools in the district. If approved, the district said it could build a new high school that would accommodate up to one thousand students. The high school will cost $38 million. It would be built in Gluckstadt and would open to students in august of 2011. In 2000 there were just nine schools in the district. It's more than doubled in less than a decade.
