The Carla Hughes trial in Canton started early Saturday morning, with the defense presenting its case in the high-profile murder trial of the former Jackson school teacher.
The big question was whether Carla Hughes was going to take the stand, but she didn't.
Instead, the defense called mostly character witnesses on her behalf, including her mother Linda Hughes.
She says her daughter's relationship with Keyon Pittman was more than just a fling.
"He came by one evening when I was at Carla's apartment," Linda Hughes said. "He came up the stairs and greeted me."
Linda Hughes also said Carla and Keyon talked on the phone frequently.
"All day, all night, early mornings, all day and all the time," said Linda.
Many are still wondering if Carla will take the stand.
We spoke with her attorneys and they tell us they don't know yet.
