On Thursday, there was testimony from a woman who says she was texting and flirting with Keyon Pittman as they stood in the basketball gym at Chaistain Middle School.
Bridgett Madlock says she and Pittman stayed in constant contact and she could see Pittman during the time police believe Avis Banks was killed. She also acknowledged she and Pittman began a sexual relationship seven months after Banks was killed.
However, Defense attorneys argue she is not to be believed because of her loyalty to Pittman.
Jurors spent a large portion of the morning watching a videotaped interview Carla Hughes gave to police in December of 2006. This was just two days after Avis Bank was murdered. The defense did not want it used as evidence. In the video Hughes says what happened to Banks' was an unfortunate incident.
Hughes is charged with two counts of capital murder in the death of Banks and Banks' unborn son. She was found shot and stabbed several times in the garage of her home in Ridgeland.
