JACKSON, Miss. (AP) - The state Court of Appeals has rejected
the post-conviction claims of David Martin Robert of Meridian,
who's serving life without parole for a 1999 slaying at a
Porterville nightclub.
Robert was convicted of murder by a Kemper County jury in 2000.
Prosecutors said he was the triggerman in the death of Lakel Cross,
who was shot six times.
The Mississippi Supreme Court upheld Robert's conviction in
2002.
In his post-conviction petition, Robert argued his lawyer should
have done a better job.
The Appeals Court ruled Tuesday that while Robert's attorney
made some mistakes, those mistakes did not affect the outcome of
the trial.
