Ida Allen has lived in the Woodhaven subdivision for the past 40 years. Like many of her neighbors, she is very concerned about maintaining the property value on her home.
“When people move out of our neighborhood they leave them in deplorable conditions which makes the value around you go down.” she says.
That's the big issue in the northern section of ward two, but in the southern section in the Presidential Hills neighborhood, lifelong resident Lucy Johnson is more worried about violent crime,
to which she recently lost a number of friends.
“One was at the nightclub and was shot and another was shot and another was to back to back to back,” she says.
That’s why Johnson says the next Ward 2 councilman should focus on getting more police on the streets.
“Patrol more, cause if the police is out, you can’t shot each other.
Meantime, Allen wants the new council person to be visible in the community.
“He can attend our neighborhood association meetings and then go from there,” she says.
