Healthy habits are becoming more and more important for kids these days. In our class, we all agree that “junk foods”, such as potato chips and cookies taste really good! We also know that those kinds of foods are not good for our bodies. That’s why we had a discussion about things we could do to keep our bodies healthy.
We decided to make a list of foods that we think are healthy. When the list was complete, we saw that there were many vegetables on it. Most of the kids said that we knew vegetables were good for us, but we sometimes don’t like the way they taste…especially when they are raw!!!
Some of the kids said that they didn’t like some vegetables, even though they had never tried them! Our teachers said that maybe if we were brave enough to try some new raw veggies, we might like them and start eating them more each day.
So our “class challenge” is to have a raw vegetable taste test! We pledge that if we taste a vegetable that we like, we will eat more them as snacks at home and on days we have them in the school cafeteria. In time, we will be eating crunchy, fresh vegetables all the time and that will keep us very healthy!!!!
