Lem Barney was a defensive star at Jackson State. He finished up his Tiger career with 26 interceptions and was University where he was a three-time All-SWAC player. During his time in the NFL,

Barney spent his entire NFL career with the Detroit Lions (1967-1977) and had 56 career interceptions, In Barney’s first pro start for the Detroit Lions against The Green Bay Packers he intercepted the first pass in his direction from Bart Starr and ran for a touchdown. In 1992, he was selected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
