Saints fans celebrate NFC Championship - From WKRGPublished: February 1, 2010
MOBILE, Alabama - In forty three years, The Saints have never played in a Superbowl. There’s nothing more fans and players wanted than a shot at The National Football League Championship Game.
Quarterback Drew Brees says, “It was loud as it ever has been in the dome, and when you look at the weight of this game we couldn’t have done it without our fans”.
Fans with the fortitude to endure years of being called “The Aints”, and a city still recovering from Hurricane Katrina could taste victory late in the game. They needed an interception deep in their own territory to send the game to overtime.
Kicker Garrett Hartley’s 40-yard field goal sealed the deal sparking off a city-wide celebration in The Big Easy.
Hartley calls the win fate,
“I’m just honestly honored to be a part of it..to be a part of them”.
A part of a Who Dat Nation fans never gave up on. They kept the faith when there wasn’t much to celebrate. Now, some are so sure of a win in Miami, they’re putting it in writing.
WKRG News 5 has Superbowl Coverage You Can Count On!
The Saints battle The Colts on Channel 5 on Sunday February 7th.
Reader Reactions
Congratulation to The Saints for winning the championship. You deserved it. Playing a sport is a great way to lose some weight. Just because you want to start losing weight doesn’t mean you should be practically driven to using payday loans to float a gym membership. I know it’s one of your New Years Resolutions, but that doesn’t mean you can’t be saving money too. For one, if there is a university in your city, especially a public one, see if they have (some do) a gym membership available for the public. Also, take advantage of trial offers, referral discounts if possible, or even incentive programs through your employer’s HR department or your insurance carrier.
