Cancer Research Benefit Basketball Game - Jalen Courtney Interview

» 0 Comments | Post a Comment

On August 2, 2009 the Cancer Research Benefit Basketball Game will make its inaugural debut and will feature some of the state’s best high school players. The event is 6 pm at Callaway High School and the tickets are just $5. There will also be a slam dunk contest and the proceeds will go to Cancer research.

The game came about because Callaway High School Head Coach Wayne Brent lost his mother to cancer on February 14, 2009. Coach decided he was going to put together a showcase game but needed athletes to participate. When Brent asked Provine’s Jalen Courtney to be involved, Courtney immediately said yes.

When Jalen was five years old, he lost his dad to cancer.
