Lambuth 54, Belhaven 16

The Belhaven football team lost to Lambuth University by a final score of 54-16 this afternoon. The Eagles dominated the game on both sides of the ball racking up 511 total yards of offense. The Blazers fell behind early 14-0 in the first quarter befoe getting a defensive touchdown by Jonathan Reed on a 35 yard fumble return for the score. The Blazers then got an interception by Reggie Lumpkin which put the ball in position for a 35 yard field goal by Justin Miller to cut the deficit to 14-10. Lambuth countered with two more touchdowns to make it 28-10 and then Belhaven quaterback Jerred Wallace found Ricardo Bolton for a 71 yard touchdown strike to cut the Eagle lead to 28-16 going into the half.

However, Lambuth dominated the second half with four unanswered touchdowns to put the game away. The Belhaven running game was slowed to four total yards in the contest. Wallace had the best afternoon for the Blazers on offense completing 19 of his 38 pass attempts for 218 yards, a touchdown and interception. Belhaven is now 5-4 overall on the season and 4-1 in the Mid-South Conference Western Division. Lambuth goes to 9-0 overall and 5-0 in MSC play.
