Jonathan Banks had a big game and an entire nation saw his big play ability. Banks returned two interceptions for a touchdown including a hundred yard return.

“I was just in the right spot at the right time,” said Banks.

Banks hundred yard return made it 13-10 at the half and prevented the Gators from possibly going up 20-3 at the break. The pick-six was a real game changer and Banks knew after the catch was made that he could do something special.

“I knew the lineman wasn’t gonna catch me but I saw Tebow and I had Phee (Pernell McPhee) in front of me blocking and then I thought I could take this back. Then I saw Demps coming back and Chris White made a great block on him and made the play,” said Banks.

So what did it feel like to return an interception for a school record tying hundred yards.? “I was exhausted,” said a laughing Banks.

Banks returned only one interception for a score in high school, but the freshman did it twice against Florida. “Its special to me to do it against one of the best players to ever play the game of football. It hurt that we lost but again defense played football. We showed the world what Mississippi State is about and in the future everyone will know,” said Banks.

Banks is also excelling as a freshman but at first he wasn’t sure if he had it in him to start at the highest level. “I really didn’t think I was big enough to play division one football coming right out as a freshman but like they say, size don’t mean anything,” said Banks.
