I caught up with Brandon native and Southern Miss pitcher Todd McInnis at Hattiesburg-Laurel Regional Airport. Todd talks about how excited he is to be going to the College World Series and says he has received a lot of support back home. “You dream about going to Rosenblatt Stadium. I’ve been watching since I was a little kid and I finally get to go and I’m not just a spectator, I get to play in it.“

James Ewing On Getting Drafted.

James Ewing is excited about getting drafted by the New York Mets, but right now the second baseman is focused on winning a College World Series.

Bo Davis left Hattiesburg today with the rest of teammates to Omaha, Nebraska. The senior outfielder talks about being this years Fresno State, his teams confidence and getting drafted by the San Diego Padres.

Road to Omaha: Brian Dozier

Brian Dozier has been activated to the College World Series roster after not playing baseball since April. Dozier broke his collarbone while diving for a ground ball against Jackson State. Dozier is excited to finish out his college career by playing in Omaha and after the World series the senior will embark a professional career. The shortstop was drafted by the Minnesota Twins in the MLB draft.

Road to Omaha: Jonathan Johnston

Southern Miss pitcher Jonathan Johnston is excited to be heading to the College World Series. “I’m on cloud nine, you really cant describe how this feels,“ says Johnston. Jonathan has been to Omaha three times but only as a fan, now he returns as a player. “This has always been a dream of mine, its not to play pro ball or anything like that. My dream is to play inOmaha in the College World Series.“

The Brandon native has been getting a lot of support from family and friends. “Everyone from Back homehas been texting me, calling me, my facebook page was lighting up, its just been awesome. Evreybodys been giving me lots of congrats and Im thankful for it. Im proud of where I came from,“ says Johnston.

Road to Omaha: James Ewing

Senior James Ewing is exicted to be going to the College World Series and he might get emotional. “I might cry to be honest with you. Theres no telling what our reaction is going to be but we’re looking forward to it like we’ve never looked forward to anything in our lives,“said Ewing. The second baseman thinks his team could go far because they are a loose and confident bunch. “We don’t have any pressure, we’re the cinderella story here. We’re teh team that not suppose to be here so all the pressure is in the other dugout,“ says Ewing.

Road to Omaha: Corky Palmer

I had a chance to talk with Southern Miss Head Baseball Coach Corky Palmer right before his team left for Omaha and the College World Series. Coach says Texas is a great program but thinks his team is prepared because of their tough schedule.Corky also tells me why he decided to add Brian Dozier to the College World Series roster.
