Flowood Prepares For Liquor, Wine Sales
Flowood Ready For Liquor Sales
Businesses prepare to sell liquor and wine by the glass after voters pass a liquor referendum. Flowood is moving forward with plans for restaurants to sell liquor and wine by the glass. 75 percent of people who went to the polls Tuesday night voted in favor of the liquor referendum. The mayor tells News channel 12 city attorneys are working on the “conditional use ordinance.“ He says it should be ready in about 40 days.
It includes guidelines restaurants will have to meet to apply for a liquor license. There are some guidelines already. We know to qualify, 50 percent of the restaurant’s sales have to come from prepared food. Also, restaurants will have to stop serving the alcohol by 11 p.m.
The mayor says restaurants should be able to serve liquor and wine by the fall.
The Flowood Chamber of Commerce is already getting calls from people interested in opening a business in Flowood.
Reader Reactions
oops my bad, me thinks “after the year 1939” would be the message I was trying to convey. Back to topic, I am anticipating roads full of blue lights in the near future for Flowood.
This was a very wise move, especially considering all the speed traps that have been newly set in place around Flowood over the last month. 25 miles an hour I am talking here folks. Get in your car and see how well you can handle that, if you were born before the year 1939. Now imagine if you do take that beer with your pizza in Flowood. Some serious big jack is fixin to start pouring in. Me and my tires, and my car tag thank you.
