Ole Miss Chancellor Considers Dropping Fight Song If Offensive Chant Continues

JACKSON, Miss. (AP) - University of Mississippi Chancellor Dan Jones says one of his school’s fight songs, “From Dixie With Love,“ will be eliminated if fans continue to chant “the South will rise again” after football games.
Jones says the university’s head coaches and numerous alumni have supported attempts to stop fans from uttering the phrase, which is considered racially offensive to some.
Last month, Jones asked the band to modify the tune to discourage the chant, but he says that didn’t solve the problem.
He says fan reaction during Saturday’s game against Northern Arizona will decide the fate of the song.
