Madison Co. Church Vandalized

The Madison County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a case of vandalism at a predominantly black church near Canton. The pastor says they found the damage Tuesday and have no idea who did it.

Vandals targeted St. Matthews Missionary Baptist Church in Pickens. It’s on Highway 51 North about 10 miles outside of Canton. The vandals shot out windows, broke lights and etched graffiti on the building. You can see the letters “KKK” in some spots and obscene references to President Obama in others.

It looks like vandals broke in by kicking in the front door. The pastor says he can’t believe someone would stoop so low.

“It’s unreal somebody could have that much anger to come in and do something like this, destroy a sanctuary, God’s church. But God is going to make everything all right .That’s what I believe.“ said Pastor Earnest Clayton.

Although saddened by this heartless act the Pastor Clayton says the good news is, nothing was stolen not even his faith.

After all of this time, you will think that prejudice has come to rest. Regardless of how one feels about one another, that was wrong. Whoever done that God will punish them because they went and vandalize the Lord’s house. When we this nonsense stop in Mississippi. Maybe whoever that it needs to travel and learn that prejudice is a thing in the past. We are not in the yester years anymore. The KKK’s just need to get a hold on life and realize it’s not about white or black anymore. When it’s all said and done, we all still bleed the same color.
