Tuesday morning when the federal trial of Jackson Mayor Frank Melton got back underway the judge told the prosecutors they had some paperwork to file. The prosecutors want Mayor Frank Melton’s bond revoked. They claim that he had contact with two witnesses involved in his trial. Prosecutors asked the judge late yesterday in court. They judge says they need to file a motion if they want if to consider the request.
They claim that Melton tried to serve a subpoena to Evans Welch. Welch was a tenant in the home when the mayor and his bodyguards allegedly damaged the home. Prosecutors also claim that Melton had contact with Michale Taylor a couple of weeks ago. Taylor is suspected of being at the home when the damage occurred. He was also called to testify in the trial Monday. Prosecutors claim that Taylor’s testimony has changed since they last spoke with him.
We are in the courtroom and will have further updates here at WJTV.COM and on News Channel 12.
