Ida-New Orleans Port

NEW ORLEANS (AP) - Tropical Storm Ida has delayed the arrival of a new cruise ship in New Orleans.  The Carnival Triumph was expected to begin operations from the Port of New Orleans on Tuesday. But the port announced a one-day delay because the mouth of the Mississippi River had been closed to
deep draft navigation. The ship marks an expansion of Carnival Cruise Lines’ presence in New Orleans. Port spokesman Chris Bonura said the Triumph is a
larger ship and its addition of 7-day cruises will mark a return of that service to New Orleans that’s lacked since Hurricane Katrina.
