Debate Over Whether To Allow Police Interview As Evidence In Carla Hughes Murder TrialPublished: October 7, 2009
The judge in the Carla Hughes capital murder trial is expected to rule Wednesday morning on whether a taped police interview with Hughes can be allowed in as evidence. Attorneys from both sides met with the judge in a hearing to talk about the interview which Hughes did with a Ridgeland Police detective two days after the murder.
The defense wants to keep the tape out saying Hughes was in custody during the interview and should have been read her rights. But the prosecution wants to keep the tape in saying Hughes was not in custody and was brought in only for informational purposes. Hughes is charged with two counts of capital murder for the deaths of Avis Banks, 27, and her unborn child in 2006.

I feel that Ms. Hughes is guilty. I think that Pittman played her. She had the OTHER WOMAN Disorder. She appears as a guilty person. True. He is a low life but he didn’t kill Banks. If she don’t get on the stand, she is guilty and Walls know.
I feel Keyon should be on trial. Why didn’t he tell police about the key to Carla’s apartment? Okay. Why did he get remarried and his wife was just murdered? Why did he borrow carla shoes, the shoes that they say put her at the scene of the crime. He is guilty. If Madison County does not see these thing. WHAT HAS THE SYSTEM COME TO! Oh, by the way, he did know that Carla uses her cousin Gun to shoot at the gun range with. she has caught him messing with other women and they insulted her. That;s why she felt that she needed a gun for protection.
I agree with supacute42. I feel like keyon has very low self esteem that’s why he manipulated and used vulnerable women. I am from mississippi and i know they could have done better than sleeping with that midget and making him feel superior. “WHY” would he borrow Carla shoes? Maybe because he thought he had a master plan. Hopefully it will backfire on him. I hope that justice be served in this case and the right person is convicted. Yes, Ridgeland police did a poor job during their investigation. I still feel that Keyon will eventually be revealed as the person responsible for Avis and her unborn child death. If he didn’t want her or the baby why didn’t he just leave. Poor Bridgett why would you even humiliate yourself by taking the stand and making your entire family look bad. Where you going to practice to support your son or was your main reason for being there was to get the attention of the lowlife Keyon? Then you was crazy enough to get involved in a sexual relationship with him after his fiancees murder not knowing if this man was being honest with you or not. Just be tthankful you made back to your kids alive.
Keyon Pittman should be tried for this case as well as Carla Hughes if she was involved—- how could he/they murder a pregnant woman? Or anyone! I was home sick three days ago when the case aired on “HLN”—I was trying to figure out what did these women see in this “short” monster. He wasn’t tall enough to be arrogant! I guess he had “low” self-esteem and had to feel “tall” by munipulating vulnerable women. I’ve never been to MS—there must be a “shortage” on men. Hey, if you do the crime, you must pay with time! (Behind bars or the electric chair) Why would this runt wear female shoes? Especially, the girlfriend’s shoes. I think Mr. or Mrs. Pittman (whatever he is) may have been trying to frame Carla to move on to the next victim (Brittney)I can only imagine how the family of the two women feel about this “low” life. How could he even think he’s such a playa! Only in his world!! Women, don’t let a man give you wooden coins and say, “you can spend these coins at Wal-Mart.“ Let him know that you are not THAT stupid. Men will only do what women allow them to do!!! Stand for what’s right ladies, if you don’t, you will fall for anything!
