Remembering The King Of Pop

The news of Michael Jackson’s surprise death is hitting fans hard here in the metro and around the world.

An autopsy is scheduled Friday for the 50 year old who died Thursday afternoon after being rushed to the U.C.L.A. Medical Center.

Reports suggest he died of cardiac arrest, which is more series than a heart attack.  He wasn’t breathing when paramedics arrived at his home.  They performed C.P.R. until he got to the hospital where he died.

His brother, Jermaine Jackson made a statement Friday evening: “May Allah be with you always Michael.“

News of Jackson’s death traveled fast.  At the Apollo Theater in Harlem, hundreds gathered to pay respect and honor the “King of Pop.“  In Los Angelos, an even larger crowd gathered.

At the Best Buy along County Line Road, Jackson CD’s flew off the shelf, selling out within hours of his death.

“I think it caught a lot of people by surprise,“ said Justin Turner.  “I feel like he was able to bring everyone together.“

Despite his unique and sometimes bizarre behavior, Jackson’s fans say he’ll be remembered for revolutionizing popular music.

“Everybody is entitled to their own personality,“ said Wesley Armstrong.  “I guess a part of that really made him into what he is now.“

Goldia Jackson, who is 51 years old, says she grew up with the pop star.

“I feel like I’m close to him, and when I heard [about his death], it just did something to me,“  she said.

Jackson’s fans are remembering the “King of Pop” and his influence on music.

Lets quit memorializing a person who has been surrounded by turmoil involving young children.  Lets memorialize someone who tries to make a difference in a possitive manner.
