Secretary of State urges Mississippians to Get out and Vote Today

Secretary of State Delbert Hosemann is urging all Mississippians to head to the polls for municipal General Elections. Some of the cities holding elections include Jackson, Clinton, Brandon, Pearl, Flowood, Canton and Vicksburg. “I am very disappointed in the low number of Mississippians who cast their ballot in the municipal primary,” says Secretary Hosemann.  “Voting is your most important right and many people are risking their lives today so you can have the privilege of choosing your representation. Our preliminary numbers show a low voter turnout across the State, and I hope everyone will recognize the importance of their vote and head to the polls.”
The Office of the Secretary of State will be observing in the following municipalities for the 2009 Municipal General election: Arcola, Como, Pace, Bay St. Louis, Fayette, Shannon, Booneville, Meridian, Verona, Brookhaven, Metcalf, Vicksburg, Clarksdale, Ocean Springs, and Wiggins.
