A Jackson Public Schools teacher is named the National Association of Biology Teachers’ 2008 Biology Teacher of the Year. Wingfield science teacher Madeline Loftin has been selected based on her teaching skills and innovation in the classroom. She will honored at NABT’s professional development conference in Memphis in October. The award comes with several prizes including a one-year membership from NABT. She will also be honored at the Mississippi Science Teachers Association Annual Conference in Jackson in October. Loftin has been honored before as the JPS Teacher of the Year and was awarded a 2007 Milken Family Foundation National Educator Award, which included a $25,000 cash prize.
