Jackson Public Schools Back In Session Tuesday
Jackson, MS -- This is a news release from Jackson Public Schools:
The schools and offices of Jackson Public Schools will re-open Tuesday, April 8, after being closed Monday, April 7. "We would like to thank City of Jackson officials and Entergy for working to get electrical services restored to our schools and facilities following the storm on Friday, April 4," said Dr. Earl Watkins, superintendent.
"The safety and security of our students and staff are always a top concern for us. We urge parents, staff and community members to exercise caution in getting to and from school and bus stops because of the amount of debris piled on streets and the possibility of downed power lines. In the event where streets are closed and buses cannot get to homes, we are asking parents to bring their children to school."
A schedule for making up the day missed on April 7 will be announced later. Friday,April 11, which would have been a 60% day, will be a full day.
All JPS athletic events will resume as scheduled on Tuesday, April 8.
For JPS middle and high schools that use a block schedule, Tuesday, April 8, will be a B day.
