Police Search For Shooting Suspects
Jackson Police search for two men, who are accused of gunning down a man, who was trying to protect his wife.
Police say the suspects entered The Washing Well laundromat on the corner of Longino and Capitol streets. According to witnesses, the men were trying to snatch a woman’s purse, when her husband intervened. The report states that 52-year-old Carl Moman wrestled with one of the suspects, but he was eventually shot several times. Officers tell us, he is in critical condition at a local hospital, and the suspects fled in a dark colored car.
But, as the word spread about the Saturday night shooting, opinions vary about whether this area is safe.
“It doesn’t bother me because whatever’s gonna happen is gonna happen,“ says Bruce Dent.
“It’s kinda scary because it could have been me or anybody else,“ adds another laundromat user.
And, these laundromat users plan to be more cautious.
“I make it a point if I have to wash clothes, I try to do it across the day at a decent time,“ comments Dent.
“When you step out you can only just hope for the best, and I just pray to god I’d be safe. And, everybody just pay more attention because you never know,“ continues the other Laundromat user.
Although some are not worried about what had happened, others are searching for another way to do their laundry.
“I’m definitely gonna work on getting a washer and dryer,“ adds a concerned resident.
