A routine search of packages and cargo led Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics agents to their latest arrest Tuesday. From the drug dog alert, MBN agents discovered a package believed to contain less than one ounce of marijuana. Agents arrested 49 year old Dr. Bruce Levy of Nashville, Tennessee . Upon execution of a search warrant of the suspect’s hotel room, several more small containers of marijuana were found. Levy is charged with felony possession of marijuana. Dr. Levy is currently CEO of Global Forensics and one of six doctors under contract for the Mississippi State Medical Examiner’s office. Mississippi Department of Public Safety Commissioner Stephen Simpson upon learning of Dr. Levy’s arrest immediately suspended his privileges within the state and notified Global Forensics their contract will be terminated. “We believe this to be an isolated case within Global Forensics. No medical examination services at the state medical examiner’s office will be interrupted by the arrest, but let this service as notice that no one is exempt from our commitment to fight illegal drugs where ever found. We will immediately begin our search to replace Global Forensics,” said Stephen B. Simpson, Commissioner of the Mississippi Department of Public Safety.
