Jackson police are investigating the brutal death of Jackson man found beaten to death in west Jackson. But tonight his family is angry over comments made by Ward three Councilman Kenneth Stokes. An autopsy shows 37-year-old James Michael Bethany died from a blow to the head. Family members tell us Bethany had to be rushed to the hospital Friday night after getting beat up. The next morning family members say they found him dead, wrapped in a bag inside a west Jackson house.  Bethany was living there at the time with another man. Investigators want to talk to his roommate to find out if he knows what happened. Councilman Kenneth Stokes say he’s had complaints about the house they were sharing. Stokes says Bethany’s race probably made him stand out in the neighborhood.

What Stokes said is totally accurate, especially since it comes from a total moron.  Ask Stokes why in the world would a black family want to move into an all white neighborhood?  Answer:  to get away from other blacks.  Being a white guy, I should be able to go anywhere I want.  Blacks do it.  I don’t owe them anything.  They’ve got the same opportunities I have.  Stokes is definitly from the old school of thought.  He needs to grow up.  Remember they did away with segregration a long time ago.

Why is it when a black person in the community is killed, Mr. Stokes uses words like “Stop The Violence”; but when a person who is white gets their life taken in a violent way in the same community, all the councilman can do is draw racial lines, and blame the victim for getting himself murdered because of where he chose to live? Did I hear that right? I don’t know what planet you are living on Mr. Stokes, but where I live we all share the same land and air. We all live by the same rules, Thou shalt not kill. No matter what race you are or where you choose to live.  What I did not hear was one word of condolences for the innocent victim. I was glad that one caring neighbor of the man killed said this was a quite man who kept to himself. But to hear Mr. Stokes tell it, tainted the man’s home and race in a very slanderous and malicious way. It is so sad to keep seeing the victim of any color, race, or creed who suffers from a violent crime keep getting victimized. I feel an apology is in order from the concilman to the family members left behind.
