Doctor Arrested for Embezzlement

A physician who served as chief medical officer for the Mississippi Department of Corrections is out on bond after being arrested on 13 counts of embezzlement. Officials said Friday that Dr. Kentrell Liddell of Jackson is accused of taking money from the department that runs the state’s prisons. Attorney General Jim Hood said 35-year-old Liddell was arrested Thursday at Madison County Medical Center, where she now works. She was booked into the Hinds County Jail in Raymond, then released on $13,000 bond. If convicted, Liddell faces up to 20 years in prison and $5,000 on each of the 13 counts. Hood said in a statement that the Department of Corrections started the investigation and asked his office to assist.
