Man Murders His Brother
Yazoo City Murder
Yazoo City MurderA 43-year-old Yazoo City man faces murder charges after he’s accused of killing his older brother. Police Chief Eric Snow says this is the first murder in Yazoo City this year.
The deadly fight happened around 5:00 p.m. on Thursday in front of their mother’s home on Chapman street off West Second Street.
Police say John Wallace stabbed his 45-year-old brother James with a knife. The Wallace family tells us James had been at a barbecue and alcohol may have been involved in their altercation. They say the two have a long history of fighting.
73-year-old Mary Louise Wallace says her son John was shocked after it happened.
“He said mama, ‘I’m sorry, I’m so sorry….That’s all he could say,“ she said.
Wallace isn’t surprised the men were fighting in front of her house. She says James had a tempter and even threatened to kill her last night.
“When he come in, he told me he was going to kill john and kill me,“ she said.
Wallace says James wanted her house, which is brand new, but now, she won’t be sharing it with either of her sons.
“I know she’s going through a rough time to have two of your children be involved in something like this, and one of them is killed by the other,“ said Yazoo City Mayor McArthur Straughter.
Wallace is now looking for the strength to move forward.
