A Yazoo River bridge that linked Warren County and the Mississippi Delta for more than a half-century was demolished Tuesday before a small crowd. The bridge at Redwood has been replaced with one a few miles up the Yazoo River. It has been closed to traffic since the new bridge opened in April.
While there was no public announcement of the bridge blast, about 75 onlookers with video equipment and digital cameras watched the old span come down. It was built in 1950. The bridge was blown up at 7:50 a.m. and the blast was fueled by packets of explosives placed at strategic points by contractor Key Constructors. Boats on the Yazoo were halted as crews cleared the waterway.

a new bridge a few miles up the river, heck i go that way 2 or 3 times a week. i always thought the bridges were side by side. as far as linking warren county to the ms. delta, hiway 3 has done that for years. this headline has more true information, than the story. maybe this reporter needs a refresher course in journalism 101.
