Teen Latest Jackson Murder Victim
Jackson police spent Monday evening questioning four people they believe are involved with the city’s latest murder.
Police say robbery may have been a motive in the deadly shooting that targeted a teen.
Authorities identified the victim as 16-year old Keaunte Scott.
He was shot outside an apartment building on Oak Street.
Police say after he was hit, Scott ran to E and L Barbecue nearby on Bailey Avenue for help.
The coroner tells us Scott was shot four times, twice in his chest and twice in the back.
Police recovered the gun used.
Scott was taken to UMC where he died shortly before 5 PM Monday night.

My prayers go out to the family of Mr. Scott. Yet this is a call to rid Jackson streets of so much crime. Its crazy that YOUNG BLACK MEN die at such a rapid rate. The communites regardless of north, south, east and west should fight to take back the streets. Its not just the criminals we have to fight its also those politicans that dont want a BLACK city to do any better. They expect us to bury all our YOUNG BLACK MEN and then go on our “merry” way. Yet, its time to FIGHT and take back whats Ours.
Keauntae Scott was a classmate of my son Javonte’ at Lanier highschool. My prayers go out to the Scott family. Much love, Wanda
I never had the chance to meet Keaunte Scott in person but I know his father side of the family very well and they spoke so well about Keaunte where it hurt me to my heart to hear such horrible news about him…I am best friends with his uncle (Darius Dawson)and it really was heartbreaking to see his uncle break down like that…Whatever happen to lead up to this was NOT that serious to take someones life..My Prayers goes out to the SCOTT&DAWSON;family…He will be missed but NOT forgotten…GOD called one of his children home for a reason
MUCH LOVE,
C.Henderson
